BETTER GARDENING WITH
Charing Gardeners' Society
Covid 19 update
With the lifting of government guidelines in mid-summer we have been able to return to our events as planned, hopefully for the remainder of the year too. This was great news. The health and safety of our members has been our prime concern during the Covid-19 crisis, and we will continue to monitor government guidelines for future events.
We are positively planning a full calendar of events for 2022 and look forward to enjoying these with our members again be it talks, shows, trips or open gardens.
Further updates will be posted here on the website. Also, see the calendar page and our newsletter page for monthly news updates.
We run around eight talks across the year. Some of the winter talks are in the daytime for easier attendance when nights are dark and cold. From spring talks take place in Church Barn on a Wednesday evening and this year some are online using webinars. Those are recorded for viewing for those who missed it.
We visit a mix of gardens from professional and RHS gardens to our local "Wine and Wanders" at member gardens around the village.
We also run three main shows a year for Spring, Summer and Autumn and take part in the annual Charing fete with a floral marquee on Clewards Meadow to show what our members produce.
Charing Gardeners' Society was formed 125 years ago. During the early years of our society we had just one main event run in a marquee at the Summer Fete.
We are now a thriving society of over 150 members with friendly people of all levels of abilities and we welcome new members at any time of year at any of our events. We are really pleased to report that there has been a great uptake in membership over the last 3 years and we are especially keen to encourage more children and families to take up gardening and participate in our programme of events.
You can also find out what we are going by clicking on the Facebook or YouTube icons at the bottom of this page.
Charing Gardeners mainly uses two venues in Charing: Church Barn for talks and The Parish Hall for our shows. See the map for locations.
