The society had to cancel its events over the first few months of the pandemic but going forward and with the gradual easing of the lockdown, we are now pleased to say that we can resume some of our events – not as before maybe, but doing things differently. The health and safety of our members has been our prime concern during the Covid-19 crisis and will continue to be until we feel it is safe to meet again in greater numbers under government guidelines.
Our July Summer Show took place online as a ‘Virtual Summer Show’ with our members sending in their entries photographically and the membership voting online for their favourites. The beginning of August saw us return to a society favourite – a ‘Wine and Wander’ in the delightful garden of wonderful members in Ashford - booked slots and socially distanced. August also saw another first for the society – a talk via Zoom/Webinar which introduced entomologist Dr Ian Bedford from Norfolk to our members here in Kent with a talk entitled "Garden bugs, cohabit, control or conserve?" This was followed by Geoff Hodge on "The 12 month garden".
